Dr. Rakesh Mohan is currently the President and a Distinguished Fellow at the Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP), New Delhi, India, which was formerly known as Brookings India. His recent academic affiliations include serving as a Senior Fellow at the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs, Yale University, and as a Professor in the Practice of International Economics and Finance at the School of Management at Yale University from 2010 to 2012. He also held the position of Distinguished Consulting Professor at Stanford University in 2009.

Dr. Mohan has been deeply involved in the Indian economic reforms process since the late 1980s. His extensive experience in economic policymaking includes serving as an Executive Director on the Board of the International Monetary Fund, Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Secretary of Economic Affairs, and Chief Economic Adviser of the Indian Ministry of Finance. He also held the role of Economic Adviser in the Ministry of Industry.

Furthermore, Dr. Mohan has played a significant role in shaping India's infrastructure policy. He chaired several influential government committees that produced key reports, including The India Infrastructure Report (1996), The Indian Railways Report (2001), and The India Transport Report (2014).An accomplished author, Dr. Mohan has written three books on urban economics and urban development, and two on monetary policy. His most recent publication is the edited volume, 'India Transformed: 25 Years of Economic Reforms'.

Dr. Mohan's academic background includes a BSc (Eng) from Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London (1969), a BA from Yale University (1971), and an MA and Ph.D. in economics from Princeton University.
